romeo and juliet litterary essay
how would you feel if you were in love with someone who is actually an enemy to your family? what would you do if you were stuck in that situation the story romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare is about two star crossed lovers who are the enemies of each other but are still in love. juliets parents wants Juliet to get married to the prince of Verona but Juliet does not want to get married to the prince. at a party that her father throws Juliet meets romeo. and they fall in love. when they find out that they are enemies the steaks are set higher and the story gets more intense. that means that they will have to sneak around more and hope that they will not get caught. Juliet tells the nurse that she wants to get married to romeo immediately. at first juliet changes in the story because at first juliet goes along with her parents about hating the Montague's, then she strongly falls in love with one and is willing to look past the idea that he is an enemy to her family. and risking everything to be with the montogue.
in the beginning of the book, Juliet has no interest for the Montague's she doesnt know them well enough to get involved with them. when Juliet's mother introduces juliet to the idea of getting married she is not so interested. lady capulet says: "marry, that marry is the very theme i came to talk of. tell me, daughter juliet, how stands your disposition to be married? the mother is very passionate about getting juliet married. then Juliet says: ''it is an honer that i dream not of.''juliet feels that she is not ready to be married. at the party that her family has she falls madly in love with romeo. juliet says to the nurse: "my only love sprung from my only hate.'' in others words she is saying the man she loves came from the only hate she has. later when Juliet is on her balcony she is talking about her "love'' romeo and how she wants to see him. she loves this Montague and does not seem to care that he is an enemy. she says: o romeo, romeo, wherefore art thou romeo? deny thy father and refuse thy name, or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love, and ill no longer be a Capulet.'' she is saying that she would ignore or father and be Capulet. this quote shows that she is willing to ignore that her love is an enemy.
in the middle of the book Juliet sneaks around to be with romeo. the story gets more, and more intense because of that. Juliet is willing to risk getting in trouble with her getting married to price Paris passionate crazed parents, to see her love who is a Montague. how mad would her parents be if they found out that she is dating someone when she is supposed to be getting married to someone and to make things worse the person she is dating is a Montague. the nurse comes to Juliet with news about romeo ''then hie you hence to friar Lawrence's cell. there stays a husband to make you a wife...'' and Juliet says: ''hie to high fortune! honest nurse, farewell."Juliet marries romeo even when there are many risks. she loves him no matter what.
in the end of the book, Juliet's parents make an official date for her to marry Paris. she is so upset about this and she is so angry that her parents would make her marry to someone she does not love. Juliet goes to friar Lawrence for a prevention. '' tell me not friar, that thou hearest of this, unless thou tell me how i may prevent it. if in wisdom thou canst give me no help, do thou but call my resolution wise, and with this knife ill help it presently...'' Juliet loves romeo so much that she would rather kill herself then marry Paris/another man. so the friar comes up with a plan to fake a death for Juliet so she can be with romeo. but the plan goes wrong and romeo does not get the letter in time from the friar and romeo kill him self and when she sees him dead she kills herself. when she kills herself she says. '' whats here? a cup closed in my loves true hand?poison i see, hath been his timeless end. o churl, drunk all, and left no friendly drop for me after! i will kiss thy lips. haply some poison yet doth hang on them, to make me die with a restorative. thy lips are warm! yea noise? then ill be brief. o happy dagger, this is thy sheath. there rust, and let me die. she commits suicide to be with her love who is an enemy. she dis -honored her family to be with her true love.
in conclusion, you can see the major changes of Juliet. going from not liking the Montague's to looking past how they are a hate to there family and seeing that there is something good about them like she love romeo. when you love someone you are willing to do anything for them. Juliet sacrificed her life to be with her love
